A lovely Christmas

Christmas is coming to an end and what a time is has been! Firstly I want to thank you for all your good wishes on Twitter, secondly I hope you had a great time over the holidays and finally this is my final Christmas post of the year -much to the relief of most of you, I'm sure!

I want to share a few of my festive highlights with you from the past few days. It's not often that my family all sit around together playing games, talking and laughing. Being back from uni for the holidays means I want to spend as much time with them as possible. This post is a way to keep those lovely memories with me.
  • I spent a very merry day with my parents at my dad's Christmas work party. Turns out drinking 11 hours doesn't always result in a hangover - result!!
  • Christmas Eve, Charlie and I made a lovely gingerbread house. As pretty as it looked, we didn't leave it long before gobbling it up.
  • We played a few games on Christmas Day. James got a Doctor Who DVD/ board game and since we all love this sci-fi adventure program, it was lots of fun to play and somehow Mum won.
  • I got lots of lovely presents and know fully well how spoilt I am and never take that for granted. The best part of the presents was seeing the reactions of my loved ones when they opened gifts I bought them. Somehow I managed to do pretty damn well despite the stress I give myself over it.
  • One of my favourite things about this time of year is overindulging on food. Oh so much food!! My Mum cooks a brilliant roast but there is always way too much food.

For me the fun isn't ending any time soon! That gorgeous boyfriend of mine is coming over from Somerset today to spend time with me and the family, Nan is having a big family party tomorrow and I can't wait to see lots of my relatives. I have a lovely new years planned in Somerset, a spa day treat with mum on the 2nd and my aunt's birthday party on the 4th. And no the fun doesn't end there before I'm heading back to uni afterwards for many more wonderful times.

How was your Christmas this year? Are you still busy as a bee over the next week or so? Enjoy whatever your plans are and please send over links with your comments below <3

Merry Christmas!

The build-up to this day is immense and now it has finally arrived! Wishing all your lovely readers a very wonderful Christmas - be merry and jolly and all those other words associated with this time of year. Surely you could be those things in June but sure whatever. Is it just me that connects those words with being drunk? T'is the season...

Lets remember that the true meaning of the holidays is not about giving and receiving gifts. Apparently it's not even about the food even though it really is. The true meaning of Christmas is love - like most holidays are. You don't have to show someone you love them through expensive gifts. It's about having the chance to tell them how you feel. I don't tell my family enough how much I love them so it's fortunate these holidays bring us all together. After all, T'is the season!

Of course there is the very much religious meaning to Christmas, the reason it exists in the first place. Even the religious part reinstates this message of peace of earth and love thy neighbour - so that really is the key theme for this festive season. Very heart warming (quite vital considering how cold it can be this time of year). It also teaches you to make sure you have a room spare in case some pregnant woman and her partner come along on a donkey without a reservation. I mean who just turns up without a text warning! Mind you it is a pain to get a room the night before Christmas... (I'll attempt to stop being silly now!)

So here I am, sending my love to all of you! Thank you for reading my humble little blog. Enjoy a very magical day with your loved ones and eat loads of yummy foods. T'is the season <3

Beauty Products 2013

One thing that has increased significantly over the past year is my love for beauty products. Getting into blogging was a terrible shock to my bank account!! I've learnt a great amount through youtubers and of course the lovely beauty bloggers. I have also found products I would never have bothered to try and been given great advice through the medium of twitter. With this in mind, I wanted to share my favourite bits and bobs with you that I have been very much in love with this year.

I was thinking of having an item for each category (mascara, eye liner, foundation etc), but some of those things aren't worth raving about. Instead I've chosen the items I'd recommend to use and have been lovely used the majority of the time.

Maybelline Rocket Volum' Mascara I am very fussy with mascara but I actually like this one. At first I thought it was quite clumpy but now I'm used to applying it, it's great.
Witch Blemish Stick - I have used this product for years and it's great when you feel the beginnings of a spot. I use it just before bed so it has time to work through the night.
Nivea Daily Essentials light moisturising day cream This time of year I need a decent moisturiser and this one helps hydrate my face without making it shiny and oily. I'm such a rebel because I sometimes use it as a night cream too - don't tell anyone...
Johnson's face care refreshing wipes These wipes are really gentle and make taking eye make up off a lot easier.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Decent coverage, brilliant price. It's hard to go wrong with this product. I use it every day that I wear make up. It's great after a night out if you're attempting to go to a 9am lecture - the bags under my eyes are very well hidden thanks to this concealer.
Real Techniques essential crease brush This brush is exclusive to the Sam's Picks collection that I bought in November. It's the perfect tool for creating a sultry smoky eye look. Review Here
MUA mosaic bronzer - sunkissed glow I love this bronzer as an actual bronzer as well as using the individual colours as eye shadows. Remember, not everything wants to be used for its primary purpose. Let's mix is up a bit and use lipstick on our cheeks... too far?
Real Techniques buffing brush My favourite of all my brushes. Used with foundation, concealer, liquids and powders. Such a versatile brush you can't help but want to give it a home. Review Here
MUA undressed palette I've raved about this product almost non-stop to family, friends and of course you lovely lot. Review Here
Tangle Teezer I have always had ridiculously knotty hair -ask my hairdresser! It takes a lot of time, strength and patience to keep my hair a bit less knotty. This is where the Tangle Teezer comes in and makes the job a little bit easier.
MUA blusher in Candyfloss The only blush I own and it's a good'un. I love the colour and it has really decent build-able coverage.
Real Techniques multi task brush If you can't tell, Real Techniques brushes are the best I own and I truly adore them. I use this one for blusher, bronzer and sometimes powder foundations. It's so smooth on my skin I won't mind admitting that sometimes I use it just to feel like soft bristles against my skin.  Review Here
Rimmel stay matte powder Best powder ever. Been using it for years and I wouldn't even think to try any other ones. Why fix something if it's not broken?

Those are the beauty bits that have made my year more... beautiful? What have you loved this year? Please put your lush links and comments below - I love reading them!

This is a little soppy, emotional post based on the number 100. Earlier this week this blog reached 100 readers from bloglovin. It doesn't seem that long ago there were 8 readers who I was shocked about taking the time to subscribe to my humble blog. Alongside that amazing achievement, this is my 100th post. With this in mind I wanted to share a few of the most popular posts I've written as well as a few personal favourites. It's perfect timing really - with this coinciding with the end of the year it's also a post for blogging highlights of the year!

Most Popular

My Favourites

Most importantly I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for reading! Having people actually read and take the time to comment and subscribe is beyond anything I expected when starting this blog. I started through my love of writing and desire to be apart of the blogging community - both of which are still reasons I carry on. I now have another reason - to interact with you and write things that you lovely readers will find interesting, useful, funny and enjoyable!

So yes - mahoosive Thank You!!! It's the perfect Christmas present (oh you shouldn't have). As usual, please leave your links with your comments below and have a fabulous weekend <3

Today I Love # 8 (Christmas Edition)

TV - If there is ever a time of year to do nothing but sit in front of the box and eat copious amounts - it's now. So many films are on and tons of Christmas specials to watch. I'm really looking forward to the Doctor Who one.

Christmas Lights - One of the only good things about it getting dark early is all the pretty light displays people put up outside their houses. We've never been ones to partake in this glorious event but would love to try it out. I went out on an evening stroll with the mother and doggie Ralphie just to walk around the village and stare at peoples houses. Any other time of year, that would be a lot weirder...

Beyonce -Of course I love the classic festive songs but for this edition of Today I Love, no matter how Christmassy it should be, this woman cannot go unnoticed. Her surprise new album makes her even more amazing than I already give her credit for. She really is my ultimate idol and role model. In a way this does coincide with the festive theme, it's her gift to all of us. Thanks Bey!

Wrapping Paper - I love wrapping presents and making them look super cute and pretty. This is made a ton easier with all the different colours and patterns available in the shops. My favourite roll that I bought is a red tartan one with a lovely shine to it and a hint of gold getting involved. (I swear I just rhymed - practically a Dr Seuss character now!) Anyway, when it comes to opening presents, I can take ages because I'm admiring the wrapping paper.

They are a few things that I am loving at the moment. I'm in Brentwood today getting my hair done - a lovely treat from Nan. So expect an insta-pic or two later on! Let me know what you're currently loving and don't forget to share your lovely links with me <3

Home for Christmas

On Sunday I travelled back to Essex for the Christmas Holidays. It's always a weird feeling going back. It's like Life on Mars where you're facing two whole different realities - Home and University. Within moments of getting home it feels exactly like I've never left. And now I'm here, it really feels like Christmas...

I love the way my house is decorated over the holidays. The red, gold and white theme goes so well with the interior of the house. I reckon the tree could be up all year round and look like it belongs there (so it could be Christmas every day?).

There a several things I love about being at my parents house. There is food around waiting to be eaten, a fireplace in the living room to snuggle up by and the friendliest cuddliest doggy ever! Ralph was seriously excited to have me home. I was worried he wouldn't remember me considering it's been 3 months since I was last home - there was no need to worry. He has barely left my side over the past few days and the big lump will sit on me at any occasion possible!

The Christmas Tag

I saw this tag on Cally's Blog and had to share it with you lovely lot. It's not officially Christmas until you've answered these festive questions!

1) Do you prefer a real or synthetic tree?
I love the idea of having a real tree - you cannot beat the smell but they are so much more effort to look after. No one wants to see pine needles covering the floor. A few years back my family bought a really lovely synthetic one, it looks lovely and symmetrical and it's easy to put up!

2) You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick?
Honeycomb hot chocolate, please! Ooh with a gingerbread man on the side - mmm.

3) What's your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
Classic red & gold - so warm, inviting and incredibly luxurious!

4) Getting presents or receiving them?
I love the idea of getting people presents. It's great when you know you've got something they will really love and I'm a sucker for lovely wrapping paper. However I get seriously stressed at shopping for other people. I really over think things and make it a much bigger deal than it should be. Yes it is the thought that counts but I'm too much of a perfectionist. I think I prefer receiving presents because I know I am easy to buy for and its amazing how people see things and think, "Kayleigh would love that!" - they are probably right!

5) Mince pies?
No thank you.. During the festive season I'll probably nibble on two or three mince pies and kind of enjoy them. If I had to chose between a mince pie and a chocolate pud, chocolate will win every time.

6) What's your traditional Christmas lunch?
I have THE traditional Christmas meal - Roast Turkey with all the trimmings, especially those pigs in blankets! Whenever I have a roast, I get full half way through because I literally stuff it into my face faster than Father Christmas can say Merry Christmas!

7) Christmas day fashion
Morning in nice festive pjs and fluffy slippers/socks depending if I get any comfy presents and before food is ready I'll put on a nice dress and tights or something Christmassy!

8) What's your favourite Christmas song?
Last Christmas by Wham is constantly in my head or All I Want For Christmas Is You by good ol' Mariah.

9) What's your favourite Christmas film?
Without hestitation: Elf! It's hilarious and with of Christmas spirit. Will Ferrell is a comedy genius in my books! I also have muchos love for Love Actually and The Nativity - I'm going to put on The Nativity now!

10) Open presents before or after lunch?
Is that even a real question? Seriously - who wrote this!? I get woken up extremely early by little James or my own love for presents and as the sun rises (if not before) we are all open the living room door together to see if Father Christmas decided to visit. More often than not (always), we find stacks of presents waiting to be opened. Whoever has the will-power to wait until 2pm or later cannot be human.

If you have done this awesome tag please send your links this way. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear, and doing this tag. <3

Christmas Time at Uni

This post is dedicated to my last week at uni before heading home for Christmas! Today was my last day of lessons and I'm travelling back to Essex on Sunday. Before you ask, yes the photo of the tree above is from Nandos #winnerwinnerchickendinner. Because of those pesky deadlines, I haven't had much of a chance to go present shopping or get in the festive spirit. When the essays were handed in, me and a few uni friends took the opportunity to cuddle up on the sofas and watch the best Christmas films of all time: Elf and Love Actually. If you disagree with the comment please get in touch to let me know what your favourite festive film is, would love to watch a few more over the weekend.
Christmas at the Student Union
Last weekend after lots getting lots of uni work done, I went over to the union bar with two of the girls for dinner and a cheeky snakebite or two (snakebite is half beer, half cider with a dash of blackcurrant). I love the cute polar bears that are all dressed up - so obviously I had to take a photo to share it with you lot.

German Christmas Market
I haven't been able to get very much Christmas shopping done but I did choose some awesome wrapping paper from Card Factory. I think it looks pretty good quality considering three rolls cost me £1.99. I'll hopefully crack on with the rest of the presents when I'm in Essex next week.

How have you been getting in the Christmas spirit the past few weeks? Please send over your lovely photos and blogs to me to have a look at.

Boohoo Loving - Night Out

It's time for another night out outfit post, this time from the lovely Boohoo website. I recently bought two plain bodycon dresses from there and are really comfy and perfect for the day to night look. However it is Christmas and if there is every a time to wear a statement dress, it is now!

1. Rosie Foil Printed Bodycon Dress - I was drawn to this dress and for me it upstaged everything else of the website. The intricate design and richness of the gold makes it a luxury statement piece.
2. Jennie Gold Bangle Set - I personally wouldn't wear any jewellery with this dress apart from a subtle pair of earrings. However I really like these bangles and would be tempted to buy them anyway!
3. Evie Oversized Envelope Clutch Bag - A simple plain black bag is all that is needed for this outfit. I was looking for something a bit smaller but couldn't find anything on their website. Besides it'd probably be useful to have a bigger bag to fit more make up in!
4. Alexa Peeptoe High Heels - There is something extremely elegant about peeptoe shoes and I think these would finish the outfit off perfectly. They go great with the dress and it's just another thing for people to compliment you on.

So that's the end of my Boohoo #Dressmas post. What are your thoughts on this outfit? Send over links to your festive party season styles! <3

#AskTwitter Christmas Edition

It's time for another #AskTwitter but this isn't just any #AskTwitter... This is the Christmas Edition of #AskTwitter! Now, I promise that was the last time I'll say #AskTwitter in this post (starting now!). My question for all you lovely tweeties out there was:

What's on your Christmas Wishlist?

I got plenty of answers for this question so thought I'd pick out a few different ones. When asked the question myself, I've found it quite difficult to answer. There are so many things I'm loving at the moment thanks to reading so many blogs. I haven't asked for anything in particular because I love surprises! So here are some of the answers from some fellow bloggers:

It's not too late to answer the question - please leave your answers in the comment box below! Don't forget to attach links to your lovely blogs for me to have a look around. <3

Christmas Jumpers

If you have the will-power not to spend all you money on festive jumpers, I salute you. The other day I caved in and bought the gingerbread one from Topshop - it's super soft, cosy and incredibly cute! With that in mind I wanted to share a few festive jumpers that I'm loving this season.

What do you think of these picks? Send over links and instagram pics of your festive outfits <3

Real Techniques - Sam's Picks

Yes it is almost Christmas and yes, if you follow me on Twitter, this is one of the many "treats" I've bought myself recently. I have been a fan of Real Techniques brushes for quite a while now - apparently I've even mentioned them in a sleepy talk with the boyfriend. As soon as I saw this collection of brushes, I knew I had to have them. I bought them here for £29.99 and waited patiently for their arrival. To say I was excited would be an understatement.

The idea of the collection is that you can create a whole look only needing these brushes. It's perfect for a beginner or anyone that loves useful brushes! Since buying them I've used them lots so thought it was about time I did a bit of a review on them. All of these brushes have multiple uses but I'm going to explain how I use them in the order that they are on these photos.

Multi-Task Brush - I use this for blusher and bronzer and absolutely love it. If you've ever used a Real Techniques Brush before you'll know how soft they are! It is the perfect shape to put blusher onto the apples of my cheek and creates such a natural look.
Setting Brush - I use this brush most days when I'm feeling a bit shiny. It's useful for putting powder foundation in specific areas that are most likely to get shiny (recommend: Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder).
Buffing Brush - This is my favourite of all the brushes I own. I use it everyday for liquid foundation and/or concealer for a flawless finish. I can't rate this product enough! It's an incredible versatile brush, much like the others. It's also great for powders or mineral foundations.
Pointed Foundation Brush - This handy brush helps get concealer to all the harder places to cover. I use it under my eyes after applying eye shadows to hide any excess colours. (recommend: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer)
Essential Crease Brush - It is exclusive to this collection. I've found it really useful to blend in eye shadows and create perfect smoky eyes. It fits perfectly into the crease of my eye.
Fine Liner Brush - This is the least useful brush for me. I haven't used it yet but am tempted to buy elf's Cream Eyeliner and do a cheeky review on this brush and the eyeliner in the new year!

Do you own this collection or any of the Real Techniques Brushes? Send over your lovely links and let me know what you think of my blog and this post! <3

November Highlights

To say November flew past is an understatement. Before I crack on with even more Christmas themed posts, I wanted to reflect on what a lovely month November has been. I've been incredibly busy with uni work, treated myself to lots of new bits and bobs and watched plenty of films. It's not been the most eventful month but I'm not complaining- the build up to Christmas is enough excitement for me!

Home Accessory Gifts under £20

Happy December! Hope you've enjoyed the first piece of advent chocolate (I sure have!). I had trouble naming this grouping of gifts but I think the title makes sense. Since I've already looked at fashion, beauty and novelty presents, I wanted to category to fit these homely gifts that I'm loving this Christmas.

1. Merry Christmas Bunting from Accessorize - £15 I can imagine this hanging on a fire place- super cute! I don't own any bunting bits but when I have my own place to properly decorate, it may be apart of my creative vision. Since lots of decorations go up this time of year, this sign wouldn't feel out of place!

2. Cream Wire Bird Heart Jewellery Stand from New Look - £6.74 I saw this in New Look and stared at it for quite a while, trying to find a reason to buy it for myself. Sadly I have decent jewellery storage, and don't own enough bits and bobs to make this worth while. However, I love the design of it and I'm sure many other people do. A great present for a jewellery lover, or to go with that set of earrings you bought them...

3. Unicorn Hottie Body Warmer from Topshop - £8 A cuddle new member for a loving family. Put this unicorn in the microwave (don't worry, they love it in there), and then they are all warm and cuddly! I have a cow version that I've had for years now. His name is Microwaveable Cow or Heavy Cow depending on who is talking about him. There are so many different animals but my motto is if you can be, always be a unicorn.

4.Christmas Candle Gift Set from Yankee - £19.99 I've only ever heard amazing things about Yankee Candles. This seasonal gift set was the first thing that came to mind when writing this post. It contains two medium jars, sparkling snow and sparkling cinnamon. Seriously great value considering they are normally £16.99 each!

5. Photo Mobile Fram from Urban Outfitters - £12 I thought this was quite a unique gift. A great gift for someone who loves to capture moments and have them on display. I'm not too sure how it works but the idea is special.

So that's the last of my Christmas gift guide posts. I hope you found them a bit useful. Don't worry there are plenty more Christmas themed posts on their way! Comment below and share your festive links with me <3

Novelty Stocking Fillers Under £10

Today I wanted to share some of the novelty gifts that are around. I'm going to do a Christmas jumper post very soon so didn't bother including any here.

1. Christmas Reindeer Sunglasses from Urban Outfitters - £6 You could ask why you'd need sunglasses in the winter... But that would ruin the fact that these sunglasses are awesome. I guess if you were on a skiiing holiday and everything was covered in snow and the sun reflecting from it was insanely bright, then they would make more sense. Or this present is for that friend you have that thinks it's cool to wear sunglasses indoors / for any occasion, "It's Christmas, better find my sunnies!"

2. Snowman Mittens from ASOS - £10 In case you haven't noticed and spend way too much time inside, it's getting pretty chilling outside now. I have been wearing my mittens, woolly hat and scarf quite a bit. I love these mittens - The snowman's eyes are made from buttons. Pure Genius! It's a present that'd make you smile every time you looked at your hands.

3. White and Red Gingerbread Man Travel Cup from New Look - £5.99 With this travel cup, my life would be complete. I fell in love with the cutie gingerbread men. It's a great present for anyone who has a bit of commuting. I need this so I could fill it with hot chocolate and drink it on my walk into uni and it'll also keep my hands warm! Practical & Adorable.

4. Christmas Cupcake Decorator Set from New Look - £6.99 I was sold on this gift when I saw two of my favourite words together, "Christmas" and "Cupcake"! The cases are so cute and I love the decorations to put on top! Perfect gift for any budding cake decorator/eater.

5. Mini Party Hats from Accessorize - £7 These definitely beat the usual Christmas cracker hats! Sorry the image is so blurry - I had a bit of trouble with the Accessorize website. I thought these mini party hats would be a great for a dinner party or even Christmas dinner with the family.

What do you think of my novelty picks? Send over your lovely links and comments down below - would love to hear from you. Sunday is the last of my Christmas present posts but never fear- there are many crimbo themed posts coming up!

Fashion Stocking Fillers Under £10

Today's stocking filler post is fashion themed. If your loved ones have a 'pash for fash', you're looking at the right place (yes I did just say that...). I found both night out and night in pieces that I believe to be lovely little gifts!

1.Black Quilted Stud Bar Purse from Dorothy Perkins - £10 This clutch bag/purse is a great size for a night out. It fits in your hand/ under your arm perfectly and is big enough to fit the essentials. I really like the quilted effect and the colours are very christmasy!

2.Heritage Ring Pack from Miss Selfridge - £8.50 These vintage-esque jewels remind me of buried treasure. They wouldn't suit pirates so get them for your bestie?

3. Red Fluffy Polar Bear Ankle Socks from Topshop- £3.50 They have polar bears on them so who wouldn't love these in their stocking! It's a total no-brainer. While you're there you might as well get yourself a pair so you aren't missing out on the Arctic action.

4. Red Fairisle Fleece Pyjama Bottoms from New Look - £9.99 Perfect for Christmas day evening or boxing day, cosying up in the living room watching Christmas films and eating left-overs even though you aren't hungry any more... Seriously stop eating Kayspray! Moving on - Comfy pjs are one of the best presents out there.

A/W Fashionable Week 2013 - Day 5

It's the last day of this season's fashionable week and I'm happy I managed to complete it considering the week I've had. There have been outfits for uni, nights out and even a day in! If you want to be involved in the next Fashionable week, please get in touch. Would love to make this a link-up party or some sort of blog swapping shin-dig!

Day 5
Jacket: Rocha John Rocha  /  Jumper: New Look  /  Necklace: Charity Shop
Bag: Accessorize  / Jeans: Primark  /  Ankle Wellies: Mr Shoe

The lighting in my uni room is terrible so big apologies for that. This jumper is the newest of my collection and one of my favourites. I'm struggling to stop myself purchasing more knits - there are so many colours and fits, I could feel my wardrobe with just jumpers! I also love these wellies. More often than not, it is raining in Portsmouth. I don't own many waterproof things but these are stylish and puddle-safe.

If you have any questions about Fashionable week or have your own OOTD posts, please comment below! Hope you enjoyed this season's series <3

A/W Fashionable Week 2013 - Day 4

I like Thursdays. It's a chance to be a little productive with the knowledge that the weekend is just around the corner. I am definitely most motivated on Thursdays so today I made a bit of effort with my clothes.

Day 4
Coat: River Island  /  Scarf: German Market  /  Jumper: Forever 21  /  Skirt: H&M  / Tights: Primark

Already day 4 of Fashionable week! I'd usually wear jeans and a jumper but since it's fashionable week, I wanted to mix it up a bit. I've had this coat for at least 8 years and even though it's a little tight if I do up the buttons, I can't get rid of it. I love the pattern and it goes with everything. The bow at the back is my favourite part! The jumper is the comfiest one I own - if you haven't been to a Forever 21, I advise you to go ASAP. It's one of my favourite shops and you can pick up some serious bargains.

What do you think of this outfit? Please send over your links to your OOTD posts <3
